Iran War Protest in Aurora (3/1/2026)

Protesters gathered in suburban Aurora on Sunday to rally against the recent military strikes on Iran.
“They tell you that you cannot have healthcare, you cannot have education, you cannot have life-affirming policies because there’s no money for it, but they have money for a permanent war agenda,” Nicholas Richard-Thompson, regional organizer for the Black Alliance for Peace, said.
The rally and march, held at Wilder Park, carried a tone of frustration and anxiety. Many who attended said they fear the weekend strikes could mark the start of a broader and more dangerous conflict.

Several elected officials and community leaders addressed the crowd. They called the move by the Trump administration “unconstitutional” and demanded lawmakers to work together before tensions escalate further.
“One of the things that I am most frustrated about is that Congress has not been adequately keeping Trump in check,” Maggie Wunderly, chair of Illinois Progressives, said. “He has been going in and assassinating, arresting world leaders, without their approval and they are not fighting back hard enough.”
