Our mission statement

PDI stands for Progressive Democrats of Illinois

PDI exists in order to reform the Democratic Party from within and to uphold and maintain Progressive values within the Democratic Party and in the United States political environment and national culture. PDI's definition of what it considers to be the most critical Progressive values can be found in the PDI Values Statement.

PDI's secondary mission is to coordinate and connect the efforts of other groups working on progressive action items, and to act as a bridge between grass roots activists and the Democratic Party leadership.

PDI will work to achieve goals specified in its issues platform with an ultimate goal of achieving this mission. The PDI issues platform will at all times reflect this goal. PDI will work within the Constitution of the United States of America in attempting to achieve its goals, and within the bounds of Illinois and Federal laws.

PDI works to achieve this goal in order to improve and maintain the quality of life of all people.

Thank you for starting this Progressive group of Democrats. I live in Lake Zurich and the Democratic group is anything but Progressive. The leader ran two or three times ruining our chance for a anti-war, trade representative.

I am retired and plan on being involved in Progressive actions. I will be moving if we sell our home.  So I hope not to be here in the fall.

I am very shocked an hurt over Durbin and Emanuel not supporting Progressive candidates in the last elections. Dean and the "unelected" party leaders seem to be stealing our Progressive win in 2006.

We did have a clear agenda from both parties as to getting out of Iraq, closing our borders, getting rid of NAFTA and illegal treaties, and paper ballots (more honest and accountable elections). Yet they chose more conservative candidates with our party power and money.

We could have defeated Hastert in 2006 because of his land deal. People in IL were ready with change.

So we fight for the soul of the Democratic Party and the democracy we live in today.

Good post. This forum isn't getting much use right now, but we'll start monitoring it more. Pleased to meet you. You might also want to message Gary K. regarding getting on the e-mail list. The majority of our discussion takes place via e-mail currently, including regular meeting notices and events.
